The Mead School is a three-form entry infant school. There are three classes of 30 children in each Year Group, making nine classes in all. The Mead also has a Nursery for 78 children, all of whom attend on a part-time basis. The school benefits from a Resource Base for deaf children.
The school is housed in one building with two playgrounds. We share a large playing field with a Junior School on an adjoining site. In September 2006, the school opened a ‘state-of-the-art’ Foundation Stage wing for children ages 3-5. This has a Nursery, three Reception Classes and two outdoor areas. This building has a Community Room and a room for specialist teaching of the deaf. The Key Stage 1 building has classrooms for children aged 5-7. It has an attractive, well-stocked library, an ICT suite and hall with range of gym equipment. All the classrooms have acoustic ceilings and are carpeted, giving us good conditions for listening and learning. The classrooms for children in Years R-2 have interactive whiteboards with internet connection.
The Mead has a modern kitchen, where meals are freshly prepared each day.
The Mead is a popular school, respected by parents in the local community. Our success has been recognised by four important awards: Beacon, Investors in People, Basic Skills Quality Mark for Literacy and Numeracy and The Inclusion Quality Mark Award.
