School Meals
All children in Reception,Year1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal under the Government’s Infant Free School Meal Initiative. Our caterers PS Catering provide our school lunches and nutritious meals are freshly prepared and cooked on site every day by the catering staff.
We strongly encourage all children to have a school meal. However, we do understand that sometimes it is in the child's best interest or if the child has a specific medical need to allow them to bring a packed lunch to school instead. We are able to provide for special dietary requirements including allergies. We ask all parents to fill in our school meals registration form when your child joins our school.
Good food and good food culture has been shown to lead not only to healthier, happier and more fulfilled children, but to improve educational achievement. Evidence from those areas that provide universal free school meals is that children eat more healthily and perform better academically. Schools have also reported improved behaviour and atmosphere as a result of pupils eating together every day. We believe that the school lunchtime is a great opportunity for all our children to sit down together and enjoy their healthy and tasty meal, while developing their social skills.
