Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a very busy half-term and both the children and staff have all worked incredibly hard.

We are in the process of working with BET to consult on the changes to the times of the school day. This will ensure that we meet the requirement of the DFE  for schools to be open for 32.5 hours a week by September 2024.  I do apologise for the delay, but we need to consult with staff regarding this as it affects working patterns. As soon as I have any information, I will share it with you.  Please be assured that we are committed to making this change as soon as we can.

We wish you all a very happy and safe half-term holiday and look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 6th November.

Kindest regards

Mrs Creasey

                            Harvest Assembly

We enjoyed a lovely Harvest Assembly where the children sang songs and read poems beautifully. We were visited by Reverend John Richardson who shared an important message about sharing. We were also delighted to receive a beautiful bread loaf made by his wife Daphne. Thank you so much for your generous donations of food which will be collected by the Epsom and Ewell food bank after half-term.

Teaching and Learning / Student Attendance

                                    Attendance

Whole school attendance currently stands at 91.7% today with the average so far this year as 96.1%

Attendance is strongly linked to how well pupils achieve; for this reason, the attendance of all pupils is closely monitored.

Please remember that holidays are not authorised during term time, and you may be liable for a fine if the absence is 5 days or more in a 3-month period.

The days do not need to be consecutive.

If we have concerns regarding your child's attendance, the class teacher will make contact with you after half-term to see what we can do to support you to improve your child's attendance.

Please also ensure that your child arrives at school on time. Doors for Reception, year 1 and year 2 will be closed by 9am.

 Scooters and Football

Please remember that scooting/cycling and football is not permitted in the playground before and afterschool. This is because the playground is very busy at these times and both adults and children could be accidently hurt. Please help us keep our families safe in the playground.

Thank you

                      School Gates

We have recently reviewed our site safety with BET and to ensure that the site is kept safe for all staff and children before the start of the school day, the school gates will remain locked in the morning until 8.35.

The double black gates will remain locked at all times as this is vehicle access only. If your child attends Chill Out in the mornings, you will receive an email from Chill Out with information regarding this.

Thank you for your support on this matter.

                                Safeguarding

The Mead Infant and Nursery School is committed fully to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects our school community to share this commitment. The health, safety and well-being of every child are our paramount concern.  We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us.

Everyone has a duty to keep children safe from abuse and neglect

If you are concerned about a child’s welfare whilst you are in school, please record your concern, and any observations or conversation heard, and report to one of the DSLs as soon as possible the same day. Do NOT conduct your own investigation.  (Please refer to our website under safeguarding for information of whom the DSLs are)

If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that she/he is unsuitable to work with children) then you should report this to the Headteacher (or the Chair of Governors if the concern relates to the Headteacher) – who will consider what action to take.

If you are concerned about a child and it is outside of the school, it is important that you report your worries to the correct agency.

The following link will direct you to Surrey C-SPA (Single Point of Access)

Children's Services Contact Information  where you will find key contact information and a secure email address to use.

To phone the Surrey C-SPA, please call:

0300 470 9100 (Mon to Fri 8:00 - 18:00)

You can also report you concerns to the NSPCC who will offer you support and advice if you are feeling worried about a child’s safety:
