Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of another busy term, I am pleased to be able to share with you some of the highlights of the children's learning. The children have enjoyed a range of enrichment activities, and it has been lovely to see their enthusiasm and excitement.

I was lucky enough to see our School Choir perform at the Epsom and Ewell School Borough Music Festival held at Epsom playhouse. The children were both amazing performers and fantastic ambassadors for the school.  I was very proud of them. A special thanks to Mrs King and all the staff who made this happen.

Thanks to all the staff for their hard work this term and for the continued support from our parental community.

I wish you all a happy and safe Easter break and I look forward to the children's return on Monday 15th April.

Warmest regards

Mrs Creasey

They have honed their skills in rolling and folding paper. Using these techniques, they transformed flat sheets of paper into captivating 3D pictures.

                                    Attendance

Whole School Attendance currently stands at 95.3 %.

Attendance is strongly linked to how well pupils achieve; for this reason, the attendance of all pupils is closely monitored.  Unless your child is unwell, the expectation is that your child attends school every day.

If you are unsure of whether your child is well enough to attend school please click on the link for some useful advice from the NHS Is my child too ill for school?

Please remember that holidays are not authorised during term time, and you may be liable for a fine if the absence is 5 days or more in a 3-month period. The days do not need to be consecutive.

Year 2 African Drumming Workshop: A Rhythmic Adventure!

This term the beating of the Djembe drums could be heard at the Mead as the year 2 children were introduced to the rhythmic traditions of African drumming. As the children tapped and thumped their Djembes, they honed their hand-eye coordination as well as discovering that drumming is not just about hitting the drum but listening to the collective sound and finding their place within it. The children all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

                   Clay Pots in Year 2

The year 2 children enjoyed using clay to make pinch pots during their Art and Design lessons this term. They carefully rolled the clay into a ball, then pushed their thumbs into the centre. Then, using a pinching technique, they moulded the clay into a pot! What fabulous results. Well done year 2 !

                        Mental Health Support

All children young people and families can access additional support and strategies through Mindworks Surrey at any time without needing a referral. This includes:

  • Access to general advice and support through an out of hours advice line for Neurodevelopmental support (0300 222 5755), which is available from 5pm-11pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

This provides advice and signposting support to parents and carers who are struggling with behaviours, challenges or difficulties which could be related to neurodevelopmental needs, such as those associated with ADHD or Autism.

  • Access to a 24/7 mental health crisis line (0800 915 4644) for children aged from six years, young people and their families or carers whose needs require immediate support.

The Crisis Line is staffed by a professional who will provide advice, support, and signposting to a range of community services. It is open 24/7 and should be used when a child or young person’s needs mean they require support in that moment and where there is a concern about managing safety needs.

Strategies and interventions that may be helpful are also available on the website: Neurodevelopmental needs Mindworks Surrey.

  • A Learners' Single Point of Access (0300 200 1015) for parents or carers with concerns about additional educational needs of a child living in Surrey.

The service is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, all year round (except bank holidays).

We continue to see a number of parents parking illegally on Cudas Close during drop and pick-up times. Eber Kington, our local Residents Association County Councillor for Epsom and Ewell  has been in touch with the school regarding this problem.  He has informed us that parents and the school can report parking issues by email to:

SurreyParkingEnforcement@nslservices.co.uk or by telephone via their contact centre on 0330 175 5930

Please help us keep our families and children safe by parking considerately and abiding by the parking regulations

                     School Uniform Reminder

Please remember that children are required to wear black leather shoes or plain black trainers to school. If children wear black trainers, they should be completley black, incuding the sole and any branding.

Please also remember that hair bands should be a simple style in school colours only. Please save the sparkly ones for home!
