Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of another academic year, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to another successful year at The Mead.

I’m proud of all our children for their hard work, progress, and positive attitudes throughout the year. My thanks go to our staff for their hard work and dedication. Our continued strong results reflect their commitment to providing the best education for children.

Thank you to parents and carers for your support too. You play a crucial role in the success of the school. Whether it is volunteering or supporting your children's learning at home, your involvement makes a remarkable difference.

We say goodbye to our wonderful Year 2 children and the families who are leaving us—thank you for being part of our Mead family. We also wish the very best to staff members moving on to new opportunities.

I hope everyone enjoys a safe and restful summer break, and we look forward to welcoming you back in September.

Warmest regards

Mrs Creasey

   Stoneleigh Library Summer Reading Challenge

We are delighted to share that the Children’s Summer Reading Challenge at Stoneleigh Community Library is now underway and will run throughout the summer holidays until Saturday, 13th September.

Diana Kay from Stoneleigh Community Library recently visited The Mead Nursery and Infant School to introduce the challenge to our pupils. The initiative is open to all children aged 3–11 years, and children do not need to be independent readers to take part. Parents and carers are encouraged to enjoy reading together with their children.

The challenge is designed to make reading fun and engaging over the summer break, helping children maintain their reading habits. Participants can choose from a wide selection of books available at the library. There are rewards and prizes for each book read, and children who complete the challenge will receive a certificate.

Additionally, children who join the challenge at Stoneleigh Community Library will receive a book prize and an invitation to a special celebration event on Saturday, 13th September from 5:00–6:00pm.

To take part, your child will need a library card. While all local libraries are running the challenge, please note that incentives and prizes may vary by location.

Stoneleigh Community Library will also be hosting a variety of free summer activities linked to this year’s Story Garden theme. These include LEGO building, arts and crafts, model making, storytelling, and creative writing sessions.

Thank you to the Parents Association who have done an amazing job this year.  We do appreciate all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes!

We’d love to hear from our pupils over the summer holidays! Why not send us a postcard from wherever your adventures take you—whether it’s a sunny beach, a rainy campsite, or just your cosy garden! We will display them in the school when the pupils return in September.

                             Rock Steady Concert

Our recent Rock Steady concert was a great success, filled with energy, enthusiasm, and incredible talent.  Our young musicians took to the stage, from  vocals to drumming, keyboard and guitar playing. It was great to see how their confidence had grown. A huge well done to all the performers – the future of rock is in safe hands!

                                    Attendance

End of year whole school attendance currently stands at 96.5 %

Attendance is strongly linked to how well pupils achieve; for this reason, the attendance of all pupils is closely monitored.  Unless your child is unwell, the expectation is that your child attends school every day.

The importance of good attendance has also been taught to the children in assemblies this year and they have enjoyed being attendance heroes

                     School Uniform Reminder

Please remember that children are required to wear black leather shoes or plain black trainers to school. If children wear black trainers, they should be completley black, incuding the sole and any branding.

Please also remember that hair bands should be a simple style in school colours only. Please save the sparkly ones for home!
