Dear Parents and Carers,

Despite the lack of sunshine, we have had a great term with lots of exciting learning taking place. As a school we have celebrated World Book Day, Comic Relief, Deaf awareness, World Poetry Day and British Science Week.

The children continue to demonstrate a great attitude to leaning, and we are very proud of them all.  I would also like to thank the fabulous staff team I have here at the Mead who work tirelessly to support the children to ensure they receive the best possible education.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our parents and carers for your continued support. Your partnership with us is invaluable, and we know that the children benefit from this.

Finally, I wish you all a very happy and safe Easter Holiday and look forward to seeing you all back at school on Monday 17th April

 Kindest regards

Mrs Creasey

Teaching and Learning / Student Attendance

                                    Attendance

Whole School Attendance currently stands at 94.1 %.

Attendance is strongly linked to how well pupils achieve; for this reason, the attendance of all pupils is closely monitored.

Please remember that holidays are not authorised during term time, and you may be liable for a fine if the absence is 5 days or more with in a 3-month period.

The days do not need to be consecutive.

                           Year 2 Malawi Topic

Year 2 have ended their term with fabulous finish to their learning about Malawi. They have been learning about what it is like to live there and how it is different from living in Stoneleigh.  Together they worked very hard to create dioramas representing Malawi and Stoneleigh.  Well done year 2!

 Scooters and Football

Please remember that scooting/cycling and football is not permitted in the playground before and afterschool. This is because the playground is very busy at these times and both adults and children could be accidently hurt. Please help us keep our families safe in the playground.

Thank you

Epsom and Ewell Borough Music Festival.

Eighteen of our year 2 children took part in the Epsom and Ewell Music Borough Music festival on Tuesday 28th March and Wednesday 29th March at the Epsom Playhouse. This was great opportunity for the children to perform on a stage to an audience. They were fabulous and great ambassadors for the school. We are all very proud of them. A big thank you goes to Mrs King, Mrs Pioli, Mrs Sheahan, Mrs Patel and Miss Humphries who without them this would not have happened.

                                Safeguarding

The Mead Infant and Nursery School is committed fully to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects our school community to share this commitment. The health, safety and well-being of every child are our paramount concern.  We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us.

Everyone has a duty to keep children safe from abuse and neglect

If you are concerned about a child’s welfare whilst you are in school, please record your concern, and any observations or conversation heard, and report to one of the DSLs as soon as possible the same day. Do NOT conduct your own investigation.  (Please refer to our website under safeguarding for information of whom the DSLs are)

If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children) then you should report this to the Headteacher (or the Chair of Governors if the concern relates to the Headteacher) – who will consider what action to take.

If you are concerned about a child and it is outside of the school, it is important that you report your worries to the correct agency.

The following link will direct you to Surrey C-SPA (Single Point of Access)

Children's Services Contact Information  where you will find key contact information and a secure email address to use.

To phone the Surrey C-SPA, please call:

0300 470 9100 (Mon to Fri 8:00 - 18:00)

01483 517898 (Out of hours)

You can also report you concerns to the NSPCC who will offer you support and advice if you are feeling worried about a child’s safety:
