Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of another exciting  and productive half-term, I would like to thank the staff team for everything they do to make The Mead the fabulous school that it is. Lots of creative and engaging learning has taken place which everyone has enjoyed. The children as usual continue to work hard and make us proud every day.

Thank you for your ongoing support.  We wish you a happy and safe half-term and look forward to seeing you all back at school on Monday 5th June.

Kindest regards

Teaching and Learning / Student Attendance

                                    Attendance

Whole School Attendance currently stands at 94.3 %.

Attendance is strongly linked to how well pupils achieve; for this reason, the attendance of all pupils is closely monitored.

If we are concerned about your child's attendance, in the first instance we will send you a letter highlighting this to you.

Please remember that holidays are not authorised during term time, and you may be liable for a fine if the absence is 5 days or more with in a 3-month period.

The days do not need to be consecutive.

                           The Enormous Crocodile

Year 2 have been reading The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl and have based some of their literacy work around this book this term. As part of their learning they were asked to create their own Enormous Crocodiles as a homework project. They are all fabulous. Well done year 2!

 Scooters and Football

Please remember that scooting/cycling and football are not permitted in the playground before and after school. This is because the playground is very busy at these times and both adults and children could be accidently hurt.

Children are also not permitted to take the equipment out of the black storage boxes to play with after school.

Please help us keep our families safe in the playground.

Thank you

Reception were lucky enough to have ZooLab come to visit. The children had an opportunity look at a range of mini beasts which was linked to their new topic ‘creepy crawlies.’ The children enjoyed learning new and interesting facts about all the minibeasts and some children were very brave to even hold them!

             Parking

We have noticed that there still parents who are parking on Cudas Close at drop off and pick up times. Please remember that there are parking restrictions during these times and parking is not permitted on either Cudas Close or Cuddington Avenue. Please help us keep our families safe

Thank you

                              FANTASTIC FRED

On Thursday 26th of April Fantastic Fred worked with KS1 and taught children all about how to look after their physical and mental health. They had great fun listening to Fred’s top tips:

1.Food – Eat a balanced diet

2.Rest – Get enough sleep

3.Exercise – Be active

4.Devices – Manage time on your devices.

Collaboration and Recreation in Year 1

Year 1 have been exploring the work of the famous artist named Vincent Van Gogh. They admired his swirly, thick and bold brushstrokes used in his paintings. They learned about the meaning of the word ‘recreate’. They looked at other recreations of Van Gogh’s work and decided they wanted to have a go themselves! Each of them painted a section of the Starry Night sky. They put it all together and realised they had forgotten the buildings and trees in the foreground.  So they used mixed media to create the buildings and trees. They had  great fun working as a team!

                                           Safeguarding

The Mead Infant and Nursery School is committed fully to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects our school community to share this commitment. The health, safety and well-being of every child are our paramount concern.  We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us.

Everyone has a duty to keep children safe from abuse and neglect

If you are concerned about a child’s welfare whilst you are in school, please record your concern, and any observations or conversation heard, and report to one of the DSLs as soon as possible the same day. Do NOT conduct your own investigation.  (Please refer to our website under safeguarding for information of whom the DSLs are)

If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children) then you should report this to the Headteacher (or the Chair of Governors if the concern relates to the Headteacher) – who will consider what action to take.

If you are concerned about a child and it is outside of the school, it is important that you report your worries to the correct agency.

The following link will direct you to Surrey C-SPA (Single Point of Access)
