PA Activities

This year has flown by unbelievably fast. It only seems a moment ago that our children were starting in their new classes with their shiny new shoes and endless energy and enthusiasm.

We hope everyone has had a good year. We are pleased to say we have had a busy and successful year of fun events and fundraising.

Thank you to the PA Committee, Class Reps and volunteers because without your time, energy and support the PA could not exist and our events could not happen.

The PA would also like to thank all the members of staff at The Mead who assist and truly value all that the PA does for the school.

A final thanks goes to our new Caretaker Mr Turner for his help and support.

The Summer Fair, run jointly with Auriol, was a sunny success on 30th June.  There were lots of  games, stalls, refreshments and displays in the arena for everyone to enjoy. Like the Christmas Bazaar, it involves months of organising and a huge number of volunteers in the run up and on the day. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and came along to enjoy the day.

A very personal thanks particularly goes to Catherine Waghorn, Jenny Brown and Amy Evans for their amazing work in helping to prepare for the fair.  We raised a very brilliant £3,930.

In brief, other recent events have included the Fish & Chip Supper Quiz Night, Film nights and discos, fun Easter Trails, Bag to School and cake and ice lolly sales. Thank you to the organisers and volunteers.

We work with Mrs Ashley when deciding how to spend the money we raise.  Your generosity has enabled us to buy some fantastic items to enrich the children’s learning and added to playtime fun.

Our big spends last year were the new wooden train and playground playhouse. This year we have bought lots of non-fiction books for the library, iPads, reading books, new pencil pots for each classroom, outside equipment for year 1, visualizers for reception, atlases for year 2 and much more.

If you have suggestions for items we could buy in the future, we’d like to hear from you.

Lastly I would like to say a personal thank you. It has been wonderful being the Chairperson for the last 3 years but it is time for me to stand down and let someone else take over the reins. I have worked with an amazing team of people on the committee and with enthusiastic Class Reps. Thank you to them all and also to all the teachers and support staff I have worked with too. A special thank you to Catherine Waghorn who has been on this journey with me for the last 3 years. Thank you for being a great support.

I feel very gratified that I have been able to enrich the lives of the children within and outside school and brought together our Mead family so that we all feel very “Proud to Belong”.

With many thanks.
