Governors

Welcome to the Governors’ Section of our website.

In September 2024, Local Governing Committees (LGCs) at both Auriol Junior School and The Mead Infant and Nursery School began working under an alternative structure for Governance.  It was agreed at trust level and by both LGCs that both schools will be adopting this approach to governance.

Therefore, The Mead Infant and Nursery School and Auriol Junior School now operate with a single LGC

Our role as the Local Governing Body is to:
  • Support and challenge the schools to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and pupil achievement.
  • Monitor progress and ensure the schools are meeting their improvement goals.
  • Oversee safeguarding and ensure the schools are safe, inclusive, and nurturing environments for all children.
  • Represent the views of parents and the community, helping to ensure the schools reflect the needs and values of their families.
  • Support strategic decisions, while day-to-day management remains the responsibility of the Headteachers and senior staff.
Working Within the Bourne Education Trust

As part of the Bourne Education Trust, our LGB operates within a wider framework of governance. The Trust provides strategic oversight and support, while the LGB focuses on the specific needs and priorities of our school. This partnership ensures we benefit from both local insight and the strength of a larger educational network

We are very proud of our schools. We have a special relationship with the local community and believe we provide a first class experience for all our children. The Hearing Impaired Resource bases we have at the schools  gives children with additional needs a real opportunity to be part of a mainstream school, and benefits not just the children in the mainstream setting but staff and the whole school community.
